BROJACK’S BLOGS – 01/16/12
The God I serve is great!  He is good!  He is gracious!  He is faithful!  Every Lord’s Day I lay my head on the pillow and say, “Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness!”  I know, some may be a little critical of such a remark and say, “O, ye of little faith!”  If so, so be it!  Anyway, I am not trying to point to my faith or lack of it.  I am hoping to point to the unchanging faithfulness of our God!
And, on the past Lord’s Day, He demonstrated His presence and His faithfulness all day long!  I thoroughly enjoyed teaching my Sunday School class Sunday.  We had a great lesson and great participation in a very important lesson about the sanctity of human life.  God’s Word strongly supports the right to life of the unborn that are being aborted in the U. S. by the millions.  We just recognized the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade which allows the cruel murder of these innocent lives.  In these 39 years, over 50 million babies have been aborted.
The Bible also is strongly against euthanasia, that is, the taking of the lives of elderly people that society deems no longer useful.  Unfortunately, our government is moving closer and closer to this horrific violation to the right to life of our elderly citizens.
I am praying that the voters of our country, especially those who profess to be Christians and believers in the Word of God, will wake up and take note of all this violation to the sanctity of human life and that they will let their voices be heard at the polls in the election of 2012.  I am praying that you will do more than vote “party,” but that you will pray and seek God’s leadership to vote for the candidates that might listen to God and lead America back to where our Founding Fathers intended us to be!
God also showed up in our Morning Worship last Sunday!  We had a good crowd and gave our focus to the great, good, gracious and faithful God that we serve!
God continued to show His faithfulness on Sunday night as we came together for the Youth Lock-In.  All I can say is “Wow!”  The youth of the county came out in numbers!  Listen to this!  We ended up registering 61 youth from our county!  And, I was so pleased that 19 of our adults showed up to help chaperone the event!  And, on top of that, our folks sent so much food and snacks to take care of youthful appetites that we had a lot of left-overs!  I could compare that to some biblical examples, such as the lad who gave the 5 loaves and 2 fish to Jesus to feed the 5,000.  Also, in His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Ask, and you shall receive!”
Associate Pastor Mike Rushing and all his volunteers did a great job keeping these youth busy beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night until 6:00 a.m. this morning (Monday).  What a great group of kids!  Keep praying for us as we try to minister to their spiritual needs!
I announced last week that First Baptist will be having a “Courageous” Weekend on the last weekend of January.  With the hope that the Gallatin County Hawks make it to the championship of the GEC Tournament, we are making a change in one of our dates.  We will be showing the movie, “Courageous,” on Saturday, January 28th, at 7:00 p.m.  Then, on Sunday, January 29th, the movie will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Both showings will be free of charge.
We are also planning to have a 4-session “Courageous” Bible Study beginning Sunday, February 5th during the Sunday School hour.  If you are interested in participating in the special Bible Study, let Bro. Jack know.
I also want to announce a small change in the schedule of “Reach Up!” Basketball & Cheering.  We will have a sign-up day at the church on Saturday, January 21st, at 10:00 a.m.  Then, on Saturday, January 28th, we will try to put teams together starting with Kindergarten through 2nd grade at 10:00 a.m.  At 10:30, we will organize 3rd & 4th grade.  Finally, 5th & 6th grade will organize at 11:00 a.m.  We will send sign-up sheets home with the children from school if possible.  If you miss getting one of the sign-up sheets or cannot make it to the church on the assigned days, you may call the church, 269-3664, and sign up by phone.  If the answering machine picks up, please leave a number at which we can reach you or you may leave your information on the machine.  We need the child’s name, grade in school, the name of the parent or guardian, and a phone number.
The starting date for “Reach Up!” Basketball & Cheering is Saturday, February 4th.
The program will continue for 8 weeks and will end on Saturday, March 24th.  Games will begin each Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
See you in Sunday School              Bro Jack
