New Haven News

"Greetings" from our little town down by the Little Wabash River. Last Sunday evening and Monday morning were very different in our weather for January. It will be February before we know it and our area has hardly had any snow at all. There I said it, now we will probably see way more bad weather than I can imagine. I am just amazed that we are still having 50 degree days.Maybe winter decided to come in April this year! I'm not complaining, I really don't mind this kind of weather I am just always wondering when the bottom is going to fallout!!

I got a real nice phone call the other evening from anice lady that attends the Apostolic Church here in town. She wanted to let you all know that they are having Sunday School and Worship service on Sunday mornings now and for the time being there will not be Sunday evening service. They will still continue to have their Wednesday evening Praise and Prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday Services begin at 9:30 a.m. and as always everyone in the community and area are welcome to come worship with them.

The Presbyterian Church continues to have different speakers each Sunday moring for their morning worship service as their continue to search for the right minister for the Church. The Sunday morning service begins at 8:45 a.m. The congregation welcomes all who wish to attend each service!!

Although, the price of the postage stamp has increased by a penny, everyone should be glad that we still have a local POST OFFICE. I don't know how everyone else feels, but I would not like to have to do my mailing from 10 or 15 miles away! Some of the other costs of postal services have also increased, such as post cards and the cost of money orders, but please remember we still have a Post Office in our town!!

I discovered a calendar that has for the month of January, besides New Year's Day & Martin Luther King Day it has lots of other interesting days: on the 3 day of Jan. is the festival of Sleep(do we sleep all day?)- on the 14th it is National dress up your Pet day(if you have one, right) - the 21st it is national hugging day(we can do that everyday). The 25th is Opposite Day(that one could sure miss up our world). The 23d is national Pie day( everyone can eat pie or bake one, I suppose) - on the 20th of Jan. it is National Puzzle Day( now there's one I can get into I enjoy doing puzzles). And to end the month of January you can celebrate Backward Day(some of my days are like that anyway!) I left out Triva Day on the 4th, National Bird Day on the 5th, Cuddle Up Day on the 6th, Make your dream come true Day on the 19th, Buttercrunch Day on the 20th and national Kazoo Day on the 28th and on the 23d it is Chinese New Year, but I'll bet you knew that one, right! It's a busy month to start the year off and we can stop wondering what the weather will do!!

Betty's Bits..............................We need to keep focused on what we can do to help our neighbors and then we won't feel so alone and YES you can make a difference. Try paying forward every nice thing someone does for you. Start by smiling at the next person you met and be ready to be busy!!
