In remembrance of Ashley Weir who lost her life on February 9, 2011. You are never forgotten.
Weather related news:
The weather is great. According to that little fellow in Pennsylvania we are going to have six more weeks of this WINTER! Geese were seen heading north the other day over Omaha. Easter Lilies are sprouting in some yards in town, mushrooms are showing in some places, seed catalogs are coming everyday in the mail, and skunks and other critters are looking for mates. Spring is definitely around the corner.
Thursday, I saw a man in Junction discing up his garden getting ready to throw out those lettuce seeds on Feb. 14.
And, some new John Deere tractors were seen passing through Omaha on the way to their new owners.
On Tuesday, driving down the hill to town, I saw Hedy and Joe Sadler walking in front of their house enjoying the great weather and Wednesday afternoon they were sitting in the front yard with their granddaughter enjoying the weather. Hedy just had surgery last Thursday and it is great to see her out and about. Good for you Hedy!
At the church:
We had a good size crowd at the Omaha Baptist Church Sunday morning. Pastor Felty took his message from Philippians chapter 3 verses 17 & 18.
There were three great music specials that was enjoyed by the congregation.
Melissa Wilson told the congregation that she was getting good reports from her doctors and to, please, keep her in our prayers.
It was good to see many of the regular faces back in the crowd and it was sad to not see Junior Bryant.
We need to keep Andrea Gleason in our prayers, she is still battling a fever that keeps occurring. It has been one month since her surgery. Everything went fine and she returned home much sooner than the her doctor expected. However, If this fever doesn’t stay away, she will have to go back to the hospital. Her mother reported that she is in good spirits.
So, lets keep Andrea Gleason in our prayers, too.
On February 12, the Omaha Baptist Church will open their doors to anyone who wishes to join the church.
Hope to see you in church Sunday.
Blood Drive:
There will be a blood drive at the Crossroads Church in Norris City on February 8. The blood drive will be happening from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M.
Town Wide Meeting:
On Monday, January 30, a crowd of about 30 Omaha residents gathered at the Omaha Village hall. For a special informative meeting concerning the town getting a sewer system. There were various state and other officials of expertise present to discuss how the sewer system would be installed and operate. The town board of Omaha has been working with officials for a year of obtain grants to have a feasibility study for a sewer system for the village of Omaha.
Andy Pritchett had done a good job getting the word out about the meeting. Not only was it posted around town, but, Andy had personally delivered a letter to every family in town informing them of the important meeting.
Still all that was in attendance for the town were Mayor West and two board members, George Carter and Beverly Loderbach. Sean Pickford, LeAnne Rhines, and Bud Mason of Springfield were there to represent the other officials. There were around Twenty-five Omaha residents present.
Bud Mason of W.A.D.I. suggested to the crowd for our town to succeed, we would have to be proactive.
It was an informative meeting with several questions from the people.
Mayor Dennis West announced that he had received two letters confirming that Omaha was granted money for the feasibility study. So, that part will begin.

Emergency Call:
Last Friday at 3:30 A.M. our daughter, Susan called and informed us that she had gotten up in the night and some
how had cut her foot badly. She was going to the emergency room in Clarksville, TN.
By the time that John and I could gather things and get down there over three hours had passed and Susan had returned home from the hospital with her bandaged foot and special protective shoe.
They had x-rayed her foot for a break and instead of stitches they glued the incision shut.
Needless to say, I had to stay a couple days to help her. John returned home Friday morning to finish his weeks work.
I was picked up on Saturday evening and brought back to Omaha by daughter Nancy and grandchildren, Gabe and Julianne.
Needless to say a fast and tiring couple of days that ended well. Susan was able to go to work on a limited bases at the Clarksville Public Library Sunday and the incision is healing at a record pace.
All in a days life of being a Mother, Dad, and Daughter.
THE LORDS BASEBALL GAME:
Freddy and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord’s team was playing Satan’s team. The Lord’s team was at bat, the score was tied at zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs. They continued to watch as a batter stepped up to the plate named “Love”. Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single, because “Love never fails.” The next batter was named “Faith“ who also got a single because Faith works with Love. The next batter was named “Godly Wisdom“. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch, Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it pass. Ball one. Three more pitches and Godly Wisdom walked because he never swings at what Satan throws. The bases were now loaded. The Lord then turned to Freddy and told him He was now going to bring in his star player. Up to the plate stepped “Grace“. Freddy said, “He sure doesn’t look like much!” Satan whole team relaxed when they saw Grace. Thinking he had won the game, Satan wound up and fired his first pitch. To the shock of everyone, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen! But Satan was not worried; his center fielder let very few get by. The center fielder went up for the ball, but it went right through his glove, hit him on the head and sent him crashing to the ground. The roaring crowds went wild as the ball continued over the fence. For a home run! The Lord’s team won. The Lord then asked Freddy if he knew why Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom could get on base but couldn’t win the game. Freddy answered that he didn’t know why. The Lord explained, “If your love, faith, and wisdom had won the game, you would think you had done it by yourself. “Love, Faith, and Wisdom will get you on base but only my Grace can get you Home“.
