Omaha News

I hope some of you got surprises on Valentines’ day. Remember girls it’s the thought that counts.

While I was looking for some goodies at Wal-Mart for my youngest grandson, Gabe, I left my shopping cart off to the side and when I couldn’t find the right size item I returned to find that my cart was missing. I looked each aisle close to where I left it. I did see a cart with a few items in it along with some valentines cards. I was hoping who took mine would bring it back soon. About five minutes later a young gentlemen appeared stating he got my cart by mistake. We were both glad we didn’t have to start shopping all over again. Motto always get your cart close.

Omaha Friendship Club:

Eight members of the Omaha Friendship Club met at Ponderosa in Harrisburg, on Tuesday Feb. 14th. Joy Franks of Norris City was the hostess for this month.

Those present were Alta Lee Welch, Brenda Rister, Aileen Crayne, Lucille Rowlen, Irma Black, Judy Ellis, Rosemary Beam, and the hostess, Joy Franks.

The birthday girls this month were Alta Lee Welch (Feb. 12th) and Marie Brockett (Feb. 27th).

We enjoyed a great meal with a wide choice of entries.

Joy read some very true observations of getting older and the wisdom we all obtain in getting older.

She gave each lady a Valentine bag of chocolate treats which included homemade fudge.

Aileen Crayne brought our “thinking of you” cards which we signed. Then each lady took one to mail to shunt-ins or those in nursing homes. Aileen read a card from Rose Spence to us girls. It was very much appreciated.

The door prize, a beautiful gold watch, was won by Lucille Rowlen. Lucille is a watch collector and it made her very happy to win the door prize.

Alta Lee told of her surprise birthday dinner her children gave her on Sunday the 12th in honor of her 85th birthday.

It was at the Red Onion in Equality, Illinois. Upon arriving at the restaurant she first noticed her children, then she looked around and many of her closest friends were there to help her celebrate and she realized they had pulled the wool over her eyes. She said she never suspected a thing.

“Happy Birthday” Alta Lee.

Next month hostess will be Brenda Rister with no birthday girl for March.

Our thought for the month is,” Friends help us look into our own hearts which enables our vision to become clear“.

The fundraiser for “Relay for Life” in honor of Gail Henderson will be held in March. Keep an eye on the Omaha News for further information about this very worth while fundraiser.

Tidbits:

A very uplifting moment was witnessed the other day in Omaha.
It happened just around the corner of a building on 2nd street, out of the cold north wind, where a group of people consisting of two, then of three, and finally of four came together to be enlightened on the health of one of our citizens.

The group of four consisted of a very diverse group of individuals in the spiritual world as well as the real world. Three of the four were enlightened on the health of the fourth.

John came home and told me that he felt, and there seemed, to be a “special presence” in the group as they gathered and discussed the health of one of them. He felt that, as the three listened to the fourth, there was a lot of silent communication going to a higher power to wish her a full recovery.

And, he was blessed to be a part of that moment.

Now that’s pretty heavy for John, isn’t it.

Now that’s the Omaha News. And listen ”Let’s be careful out there”.
