Hiking News

Hi All!
Let me be the first to wish you a Happy New Year!   The weather forecast for this Sat., 12/31/11,
calls for upper 50's and sunny skys!  Should be a perfect day for a winter hike.  If you want to end the year with
some fresh air and exercise, be at the upper parking lot at High Knob by 10:00 AM . We plan on hiking the observation
trail around the top of the "Knob" for about a 1 mile total loop and then hiking down into Grindstaff Hollow to the spring
and then back up along Hurricane Bluff  to return to the "knob", for a total of  about 3 1/2 miles.  We have done this same
hike before on New Year's Day.  If you want to do a short hike, you can do the loop with us and then easily return to the
parking lot.  If you want to hike even more, lots of the trails in this area have had lots of work done on them in the past year.
Tons of gravel have been spread, and  water bars and switchbacks installed in some of the steeper areas to improve the trails.
Please dress for the weather, bring water, a snack and your cameras,  no dogs or alcohol please.
